Growing up in Devon and influenced by my family of engineers and artists, I studied Silversmithing & Jewellery at The Cass, and then set up my studio in North London. My work almost always has an historical element - the Elizabethan era with its fine detailing, opulence and dramatic scale has influenced my ‘Ruffle’ collection, which explores the textile qualities in precious metals and is reminiscent of undulating folds of fabric. I am also interested in architecture and urban landscapes, for their dramatic scale and beauty in repetition.
Combining a variety of materials such as stainless steel mesh-cloth, precious metals and Japanese paper with textile and silversmithing techniques, my collections are made in small batches for galleries and retail shows. Each piece is individually hand made.
I strive to create work that is visually striking, reflecting the spirit of my research - alluding to the past but innovative and timeless.
