I grew up in Devon in a family of engineers and artists with always a project on the go, and following a BA (Hons) in Silversmithing & Jewellery in 2011 from The Cass, London Metropolitan University, I set up my studio in North London. I am interested in textiles and my work almost always has an historical influence. I love the Elizabethan era with its fine detailing, opulence and dramatic scale - which you can see in my ‘Ruffle’ collection - and the challenge of making strips of silver appear like undulating folds of fabric. I am also interested in architecture and urban landscapes, for their dramatic scale and beauty in repetition.
I combine a variety of materials such as stainless steel mesh-cloth, precious metals and Japanese paper with textile and silversmithing techniques and my collections are made in small batches for galleries and retail shows. Each piece is individually hand made.
I strive to create work that is visually striking, reflecting the spirit of my research - alluding to the past but innovative and timeless.
